Awards for Undergraduate Students in Folklore

The Margaret Yocom Folklore Prize

2019 - present

The Margaret Yocom Folklore Prize is awarded annually to the best student papers or projects in folklore at George Mason University. Past projects have included things like websites, podcast series, or exhibitions. Prizes are awarded at both the undergraduate and graduate level and are distributed at the English Department's annual awards ceremony. The award is named after Professor Emerita Margaret Yocom, who founded Mason's Folklore Studies Program. She retired in 2013 after 36 years of teaching at George Mason.
